KEY POLICIES FOR CONSULTATION

1. Housing Allocation (AR2): Arundel MUST prepare a Neighbourhood Plan to identify sites on which houses should be built up to 2036 (guidelines indicate we need about 100 dwellings). If we do NOT, Arun District Council will take over this decision and Arundel could be vulnerable to predatory development.

The proposals in this Plan are for building:

  • 90 carefully-designed dwellings on land off Ford Road (between the Allotments and Priory Lane), with 30 of these deemed 'affordable 'and available only to local people, with plenty of green space, a community plot and a Children’s Play Area within the site.

  • 12 dwellings (2/3-bed) on the site of the old Police Station in the Causeway.

  • 24 dwellings (2/3-bed) on the ‘Blastreat/Greenhurst’ site in Fitzalan Road, amending policy on this site in ANP1

(More details about each of these sites can be found in the Full Plan, which can be found on the website and various venues a stated on the cover of this leaflet)

Only the Ford Road and Police Station sites count towards our target. Blastreat and the Old Gasworks (Ford Road) and the Castle Stables (all carried forward from the first Neighbourhood Plan in 2014) have already been counted by ADC towards their housing target.

2. Town Centre (AR4): This policy has been drafted to ensure Arundel continues to be an important market town, in a changing world, that encompasses social interaction, community pride, and common heritage and values. The policy proposal aims to protect the retail base in the Town by restricting concentrations of non-retail on our shopping streets namely office, cafe, etc.

3. Business Hubs (AR5): This policy proposes the development of new business and live-work units, or to extend established uses.

4. Green Infrastructure Network (AR6): This policy proposes a Green Infrastructure Network, which comprises a connected sequence of open and natural green spaces.

KEY ISSUES TO CONSIDER

What do you think about the Neighbourhood Plan proposals for:

a) Housing Allocation?

  1. at Ford Road

  2. at Blastreat/Greenhurst on Fitzalan Road

  3. at the Police Station on the Causeway

  4. affordable housing for local people

b) Protecting the Retail mix, to enhance the vitality of the town?

c) Development of Business Hubs?

d) Enhancing our open and natural green spaces to to encourage walking, cycling and play?

e) Other policies in the Pre-Submission Plan not specifically mentioned above?

PLEASE DO RESPOND BY 21st DECEMBER. YOUR VIEWS ARE IMPORTANT!
